Shag is a product of the sprawling suburbs of Los Angeles, California. He's intrigued with the commercial art and advertising of the '50s and '60s and strives for a tight, clean appearance to his work. Though he considers himself more an illustrator than a "fine artist," galleries in the US, Europe, Australia, and Japan have hosted solo exhibitions of his art. Shag's recent ventures in merchandising and prints have been equally successful.
